One of the most special dates of the year is just around the corner and with it comes the magic that Christmas brings to Aranda de Duero and Ribera del Duero.
Whether you are thinking of spending Christmas away from home, but have not yet planned your getaway, or if you have already decided that Aranda de Duero will be the place where you will spend the Christmas holidays, we propose five plans that will inspire you and help you to enjoy these special dates:
1 – Visiting a Nativity Scene
We propose a route through the Ribera del Duero enjoying the Christmas cribs that are installed in the region every year. A truly unique experience if you want to discover the authentic flavour of Christmas in our region.
There are many, but among the most famous is the Living Nativity Scene of Torregalindo, the largest living nativity scene in the province of Burgos. This tradition has been declared of Regional Tourist Interest and attracts more than 2,000 people every year. On 5 January, the town is transformed into a magical place to recreate the arrival of the Three Wise Men from the East.
Another special Nativity Scene is the floating Nativity Scene located on the Duero River Bridge in Aranda de Duero. You can see it from 24 December to 6 January.
2 – Skating on the ice rink in Aranda del Duero
From 4th December to 7th January, the Plaza Mayor of Aranda de Duero hosts an ice rink. You can skate in sessions of 35 minutes at different prices.
An ideal plan to enjoy your family getaway to Aranda de Duero that you can combine with a visit to the town.
3 – Enjoying magic and tradition in a rural cottage
Christmas is a time to gather with family and friends. A time to reflect on the year that is coming to an end and to look to the new year with hope.
We suggest you spend it in a rural house.
At La Ren Lecrés we open the doors of our house to you to turn it into a place where the whole family can get together. A place to celebrate and share.
Eating a typical barbecue, having dinner by the fireplace, opening the presents and enjoying the joy of the children…
It will be an incredible experience for everyone. You will have the opportunity to reconnect with loved ones, enjoy the beauty of nature and the rural environment and participate in some Christmas traditions that will surely fill you with joy.
4- Enjoying Christmas music
If you like music, you are in luck because there are numerous concerts and parades held in Aranda de Duero during the Christmas season. From concerts and carol sings of Castilian and local carols, to symphonic concerts or almost daily parades, music is the true protagonist of the town at Christmas.
You can consult in more detail the full calendar of concerts in Aranda de Duero and the area on the Ribera del Duero Wine Route website.
5- Calmly savouring the Ribera del Duero environment
Ribera del Duero is a region that offers you the opportunity to enjoy its villages, nature, wines and gastronomy at any time of the year. Make the most of these dates with less tourism and more peace and quiet to explore the region and discover all the charming villages, take a walk along one of the Duero trails, visit one of the Ribera del Duero wineries, enjoy a good roast lamb in the restaurants of Aranda de Duero…
