Visiting the wineries of Aranda de Duero is very possibly one of the reasons that will lead you to discover this city, one of the nerve centres of Ribera de Duero for enjoying wine tourism.
The link with wine in Aranda de Duero and the surrounding area goes back to the dawn of history, with traces of its existence in the area dating back more than 2,000 years. However, it was in the Middle Ages, from the 10th century onwards, when the wine culture began to spread in the region at the hands of the monasteries, where they produced their own wine.
During the 12th and 13th centuries, underground wine cellars began to be built in the historic centre of Aranda de Duero, a network of 7 km that forms an authentic underground city beneath the subsoil of Aranda de Duero.
Over time, the wineries have been modernised and nowadays we can find avant-garde buildings that coexist with historic places and more familiar wineries.
During your visit to this area of Ribera de Duero, the ideal thing to do is to combine some of these old wineries in Aranda de Duero with some of the more modern ones. This way you can make a perfect combination and learn the best of each style.
To help you choose, here is a selection of what in our opinion are some of the best wineries in Aranda de Duero to visit:
